Decker, who had considered herself to be a country artist in the past was surprised that her album wasn't promoted and made with an eye on a mainstream audience. Following two singles from the album, Decker confronted label executives to have more control over her music and the next track Boys in the Summer was more of a country-centric release. Decker released her second album under two different titles: Sweet American Dreams or Daughter of a Gypsy. Mercury decided to put it back on the shelf following the initial three singles did poorly in the charts for country music. Decker then was let out of the contract.
