I worked for months, working 12- hour days cleaning floors and taking wallpaper down with one child strapped on my back, and others playing into the playpen. Ha! All was starting to form, but it wasn't quite finished. It was going to take an enormous amount of effort as well as my favourite brands of furniture to furnish this home. To stay in my budget, I took my boys along with me as I searched for hidden treasures at estate sales. Our weekly routine that consisted of spending the week of Thursday to Saturday scouring estate sales and garage sales shopping for new and used items. I then spent the remainder of the week sanding and painting the driveway. The look was a little similar to the following... This is where my obsession with in the process of restoring old furniture got started. It didn't matter if the house was already decorated. There was a place on the market in town in which I sold my pieces. Then, my collection got to the point that the space that I was living in was not enough. The number of people who visited my home over the course of a weekend, to shop for everything on the ground floor. My company Growing Days began here. The business I was running was growing, but my family was growing too. The balance between work and family was crucial to me. I wished to balance being a mother and a successful business owner. Growing Days just seemed to fit. My precious Nora was born in 2013, our fourth child. My business's direction was excellent, however I needed to rest for a while. I decided to take some break from my antique furniture and slow down to stay at home with the children. That was exactly what I was looking for at the moment. In the course of a few months, the phone began to ring. People were calling me and needing help with their interior decorating and home renovations. The majority of them were people who had been through my house during furniture open houses! I began taking on clients at a time going at my own pace but it wasn't too for long to have several accounts, and I was operating an entire home improvement business. When you first spoke to me about my business in home renovation, I laughed. Actually, I smile slightly when I recall it.
